It may be true that the law always follows tech, but it’s nipping at the heels at the Center for Legal and Court Technology at William & Mary Law School. The center is a joint project between the Law School and the National Center for State Courts dedicated to improving the world’s legal systems through the appropriate use of technology.

Some of the most pressing legal and ethical questions of our time are being hammered out at the center, including challenges surrounding artificial intelligence, machine learning, large-scale data analytics, the internet of things and blockchain technology.

The institute is also home to the most technologically advanced trial and appellate courtroom in the world. In addition to hosting visitors from around the globe, the McGlothlin Courtroom is available to Law School students participating in laboratory trials and to local K-12 students through Fairytale Trials. It’s one way the Law School is investing in the Future of Knowledge.
